  2. 2006 R. Taylor Style 1 Indian Rosewood/Sitka Spruce w/Laskin Armrest

Bob Taylor has been making fine guitars for many years. When he puts his name on a signature guitar, then you know it's a good one. Taylor is not making the R Taylor Signature line right now, so this is a rare opportunity to own one. Taylor used only his most experienced craftsman on these instruments, with the best woods, in a small shop setting outside of the regular Taylor Guitar prodution. Here we have a 2006 R Taylor Style 1. Spruce top, Indian Rosewood back and sides, Ebony fingerboard, and an Ebony contoured arm bevel. The Laskin Armrest is a fantastic option that makes the guitar much more comfortable to play...it was also an additional $1500. The R Taylor guitars have a one-piece neck, without the scarf joint like the regular Taylor production guitars have. It is an amazing sounding guitar, that is perfectly suited for both strumming and fingerpicking. The kerfing is steamed and bent just the way cellos are made. The bridge plate is inlaid into the top, creating better tone and sound transference. It has the Expression system electronics, which sounds great. This guitar is clean and nice. The neck is straight and true. The frets are in perfect condition. There is a ding on the back, but it does not go through to the wood. It has the deluxe R Taylor case. A truly fantastic guitar. It's our acoustic salesman's current favorite guitar in the shop...you better buy it before he does.

  3. Taylor 714ce Roadshow LTD Koa/Torrefied Spruce

Until now, torrefied spruce tops have been reserved for Taylor's maple 600 series, so this limited edition 714ce Koa/torrefied Sitka spruce beauty serves up a unique treat in both look and sound.

Now, all of you Taylor aficionados may think you know all about this guitar, but you folks need to rethink the norm! So...where shall I begin? Let's start with the front view of this instrument. Yes, it is sitka spruce. But, torrefied sitka spruce. So, you top-off the aged look of the torrefied top with a very tasteful Western shaded sunburst. Now this is something special. The ebony fretboard does indeed have some of the variegation unique to each of these 714ce Ltd guitars. This unique look to each fretboard comes as a result of Taylor's ecologically sound decision to use "imperfect" ebony for fretboards. I feel that this uniqueness to each fretboard is one of the attractions. The nice colorful paua rosette and the pearl Century fretboard inlays, along with the abalone dotted ebony bridge pins all leave you with a first impression that you can't forget. But that is just the top! This Grand Auditorium cutaway guitar has a back and sides of gorgeous Hawaiian koa, normally reserved for Taylor's legendary Koa Series. Big, wide grain, colorful and straight. Upon closer inspection, you'll notice that the back is of three pieces. Koa has a natural sounding midrange and singing bright trebles. When you couple those qualities with the played-in vibe from the torrefied spruce-soundboard, you end up with a smooth, warm and responsive sound and feel. Taylor is making a very limited run of these guitars that will only be available for their Roadshow presentations. At our very recent Roadshow event, this guitar was THE standout over all of the guitars brought in for the show, and there was indeed plenty of competition! Nice hardshell case, the latest ES2 electronics. There is certainly a lot to love about this fine instrument!

  4. Taylor 814ce - Sitka Spruce/Rosewood #5112

Taylor’s popular 814ce offers players the ultimate all-purpose guitar. Its balance, warmth and articulation are great for fingerstyle, it has enough punch as a strummer to front a band, and the top-end power will fuel lead runs without getting shrill. It’s a great choice for a gigging player looking for one guitar that can cover it all. The revoicing of the 800 Series has brought greater warmth, a more mature midrange, and a looser, more luxurious low end to the 814ce, thanks in part to the customized bracing and a new, custom-calibrated Elixir HD Light string-gauge set. Premium appointments include maple binding and back strip, rosewood top edge trim, a rosewood pickguard, Taylor’s new Element fretboard inlay in mother-of-pearl, a marbled fretboard, and new Expression System 2 acoustic electronics. The guitar features a Venetian cutaway and includes a Taylor deluxe hardshell case.
