Here is a 2003 Gibson SJ Custom Shop made with the Holy Grail of tone woods, Brazilian Rosewood. The Southern Jumbo is a workhouse of a guitar beloved by many famous artists...Woodie Guthrie and Hank Williams Jr were both known for loving the model. The Southern Jumbo was born in 1942 with solid Brazilian rosewood back and sides, but the model is more commonly found with the solid mahogany back and sides it carried when it reappeared in 1946. This Brazilian incarnation has been crafted in Bozeman, Montana by Gibson’s lauded acoustic division. Other features of the model include the solid premium Sitka spruce top, 6-ply top binding and 4-ply back binding, nitrocellulose vintage sunburst finish, tortoise Southern Jumbo pickguard, and split-parallelogram mother-of-pearl fingerboard position markers. The Brazilian Rosewood is gorgeous. It has a great feeling neck with a nice medium profile. There is no wear, it is perfect. It is a serious guitar and a great sounding guitar. Okay, as we like to say in the business, now for the kicker: It is signed on the front by country artist, Craig Morgan, how cool is that? This guitar retailed for $12,500 back in 2003. Grab it now for a fraction of that price. Comes with original paperwork and hard shell case.
