The square-shouldered 14-fret dreadnought is the most popular steel-string acoustic guitar body shape in the world. While Collings is certainly not the only company to build them, they bring a new tonal clarity to the depth and warmth usually associated with such a large, deep-bodied guitar.   This OM2H features a Torrefied Sitka Spruce top, Indian Rosewood back and sides, Torrefied Adirondack Spruce braces, and a 1 3/4" nut width.
  'OM' stands for "Orchestra Model," but 80 years after this body shape was first designed it has become the most popular 14-fret model with fingerstyle guitar soloists who choose to play on steel strings; yet flatpickers also find it appealing. The Orchestra Model is a greatly favored shape amongst Goodall's Traditional lineup. It features a smaller, more comfortable to hold body size than the popular dreadnought body shape. Its tone is extremely powerful in the bass and midrange, with an emphasis on a broad warmth without lacking treble. All of Goodall's Traditional series models features a custom, partially scalloped bracing pattern which produces a bit more 'boominess' in the bass and midrange. The peghead and bridge have been redesigned for a more conservative visual appeal, with open gear Waverly tuning machines contributing to its charm. It is attractively arrayed with a herringbone marquetry rosette and top purfling, and a chevron marquetry backstrip. It has been designed especially with the flatpicker and the bluegrass player in mind.
