Here's a Rick Turner Renaissance RB5 5-string bass that custom ordered with some very cool and rare specs. Built in 2009. Indian Rosewood back, cedar top, maroon stain, and abalone purfling around the top and headstock. This five-string model has a 35″ scale length, 21 frets, and is extremely light weight - only 6.5 pounds! The Renaissance bass delivers a much broader frequency range than traditional basses. Constructed like a true acoustic instrument with Cedar top and pretty Rosewood back & sides. With bent sides and a braced tone wood top and back, the Renaissance series represents the best way to achieve acoustic tone plugged in. A center block prevents feedback and yet provides an acoustically live foundation for the D-TAR Timberline pickup system. It's in excellent condition. Comes with original Black Tolex hard case.

As the world sank into the Great Depression of the 1930’s the tri-cone suddenly was too expensive for most musicians to afford. John Dopyera created a second model that was less expensive to produce, but every bit as loud as his original. This was the single cone model, sometimes referred to as a “biscuit cone” because of the round wooden disc that sits atop a larger, single convex cone. This model became the choice instrument for the traveling Bluesmen of that era because of their incredible volume and rugged metal bodies. This 12-fret version, called the 'Delta Rocket', incorporates tricone grilles in place of the traditional f-holes.
