  The square-shouldered, 14-fret dreadnought is the poster boy of acoustic guitar body shapes. It's classic, but above all, practical. While Collings is certainly not the only company to build them, they bring a new tonal clarity to the depth and warmth usually associated with such a large, deep-bodied guitar.
  Although its bass response makes the dreadnought ideal for vocal accompaniment, Collings versions are also often employed by bluegrass flatpickers who must compete with inherently louder instruments such as banjos and fiddles. Simply put, the Collings D1 will get the job done, and with grace and humility.

The Jumbo, or CJ, is Colling's version of the classic slope-shouldered dreadnought, a shape that has enjoyed renewed popularity in recent years. While the CJ is similar in width and depth to the traditional dreadnought, it has a distinctly different tone. CJ’s voice is deep and full-bodied, maximizing cut and power with a shimmery top end and quick response.

  'OM' stands for "Orchestra Model," but 80 years after this body shape was first designed it has become the most popular 14-fret model with fingerstyle guitar soloists who choose to play on steel strings; yet flatpickers also find it appealing. The compact shape makes the Collings OM equally easy to handle onstage or when sitting on the couch, and the relatively shallow body (barely over 4 inches deep) results in balanced tone and an immediate response.

The Brazilian Rosewood on this guitar has a unique provenance: it was acquired by Dana Bourgeois from the estate of the late Don Sharp, a legendary master luthier. Don Sharp, who tragically passed away in November 2021, was celebrated for his exquisite custom handmade acoustic guitars, including his renowned harp guitars valued between $8,000 and $12,000. His legacy of craftsmanship adds a rich historical significance to this exceptional instrument.

By combining the warmth of Island Koa with the sparkle of winter spruce, the Touchstone Hawaiian Country Boy has been designed to respond equally well to delicate fingerpicking and lively strumming.
