  Here is a beautiful, limited edition Larrivee SD-40R sloped dreadnaught. Made in 2021. Collector owned. With the exception of one tiny little ding at the top of the headstock, it is in mint condition. No other wear. Upgraded with a Vine headstock logo, pyramid bridge, signed label, and AAA Sitka Spruce top. Jean Larrivee had a small stash of 20+ year old AAA spruce tops that he felt would be ideal for bluegrass and used them for this limited run. Beautifully made with great attention to detail.

Larrivee's Traditional Series was created with two things in mind: Create an instrument with traditional 'vintage' features like a flat-top headstock, hand-carved volute, and diamond inlays; but at the same time maintain the unique tonal balance of the standard Larrivée symmetrical parabolic bracing system. An enlarged soundhole allows significantly greater mid-range punch, emphasizing the low end, and increasing overall volume. This 50 Series features Larrivee's highest grade mahogany, herringbone trim, and traditional angled bone nut. The casted bronze open-back tuners feature engraved design work by Wendy Larrivee. One of the many fine details that put this series in a category of their own.

This Larrivee D-40R Bluegrass Special is the built specifically for the Bluegrass player. Featuring a Sitka Spruce top, hand-selected by the folks at Larrivee specifically for maximum bluegrass projection. Add to that, an enlarged sound hole for increased volume and a wider soundstage. Beautiful Koa binding, and Larrivee's JCL inlay at the 12th fret, further set this D-40R apart as something special. For the Bluegrass player, this one's a killer!

Larrivee's revolutionary 40 Series features Jean's innovative "Scalloped Parabolic Hybrid" bracing system design. Based on their tried and true "X-Brace" design, Jean blended a non-symmetrical scalloped lateral cross-bracing pattern. This means maximum strength using the least amount of material. It's a build that allows even further vibration of the soundboard, while still offering a controlled bass response. The 40 Series are built in America using all solid wood, like all Larrivée's, and feature brand new upgrades like bone bridge pins, nut and saddle, diamond fingerboard dots and Grover 18:1 open back tuners. Jean's exciting design means a fresh new sound that is sure to appeal to traditional and long-time Larrivee players alike.

When Larrivee was moving, they discovered some things they didn't know they had...like a pallet of Moon wood tops in the corner from over 10 years ago. Just sitting there aging. Here's an OM-40-RW with one of these special tops. To make it even more special, it has a vine logo set in a rosewood headstock overlay with a signed, interior label.
