Here is a Fender Custom Shop 1952 Telecaster “Chicago Special” Heavy Relic in Faded Butterscotch Blonde. Built in 2021, it has all the vibe of a well-worn blackguard with the punch and clarity of Fender's hand-wound Chicago Special pickups.
The “Chicago Special” series was put together with the team at Chicago Music Exchange to capture the best of Fender's golden era while sneaking in a few modern touches. Light weight, resonant, and loaded with killer hand-wound pickups, this one is a blast to play and a looker too.
At just 7lbs 3oz, this Tele is lightweight, very comfortable, and super resonant. Recently set up, it plays great. It is currently wired with modern Tele controls, but the original ’51 Mod Nocaster harness is included in the case if you want to swap it back. Comes with the original tweed hardshell case, COA, build sheet, bridge cover, and paperwork.

The “Chicago Special” Story:
This guitar is part of the Chicago Music Exchange “Chicago Special” series, created in collaboration with the Fender Custom Shop. Together with Fender's best minds - including VP of Product Development Mike Lewis. CME designed these guitars to represent the best of Fender from top to bottom, carefully selecting specs that honor classic eras while adding modern refinements.

Highlights of the Chicago Special line include:

Period-inspired specs like vintage fingerboard radii, classic plastics, matched headstocks, and iconic finishes.

Modern refinements such as rift sawn maple necks for added resonance and expanded control sets for tonal versatility.

Exclusive Chicago Special pickups, designed in collaboration with Fender Custom Shop, potted in shellac for an open frequency response.

This 1952 Telecaster “Chicago Special” embodies that philosophy perfectly — it feels vintage, sounds wide open, and is built with modern precision.
