DetailsHere is a rare gem for Fender and Clapton fans alike: a 2000 Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster, one of a limited edition of 10 custom-built for Sam Ash. Each set consisted of a Telecaster and a Stratocaster — this Strat is from pair #8 of those 10. What sets this guitar apart is its stunning, one-of-a-kind, Pat Wilkins finish, inspired by the legendary Eric Clapton "Crash 1" Strat. Wilkins (whose portfolio includes work for Van Halen, Eric Clapton, and Kirk Hammett of Metallica, among others) has masterfully captured the bold, vibrant aesthetic of Clapton's famous Crashocaster, but without the added graffiti. For context: in March 2001, Clapton debuted the Crashocaster, painted by renowned graffiti artist John “Crash” Matos, on stage at the Royal Albert Hall. It quickly became Clapton's main guitar through his 2004 World Tour. This tribute honors that same striking visual style with a one-of-a-kind finish, making it a truly unique collectors piece. This example is in pristine condition, showing only two minor blemishes: a small chip where the neck meets the body and a light discoloration mark on the back of the neck from a stand (see photos). The frets are perfect, showing no signs of wear. It’s been collector-owned and very well cared for. Electronics & Modifications:
The pickups have been upgraded — the neck and middle are Suhr V60s, and the bridge is a Seymour Duncan Five-Two. The original pickups will be included in the case.It comes with the original hardshell case. If you are looking for a unique Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster with a direct connection to rock history and unmatched artistry, this is the one. Don't miss your chance to own this rare and visually stunning instrument!
