Cosmetically, it is in really amazing condition, especially for its age. Other than a few minor tolex scuffs, the only real noteworthy cosmetic issue is the name that was carved into the top-facing corner of the chassis (see photos). This is generally tough to spot, and you'll only see it with the lid removed. At a glance, it presents so clean you would honestly think it was a reissue. It even still has the original protective plastic covering on the rear serial number badge, which is something you almost never see.
Most importantly, it has recently been serviced, and is ready to play: new caps, cleaned heads, and a fresh tape installed. It is functioning exactly as it should, and it sounds incredible: lush, warm, and everything you want from a classic tape echo. The built-in chorus is rich and musical, and the repeats have that unmistakable analog character that is impossible to replicate.
If you have been looking for a clean, well cared for RE-301 with a great backstory, this is a fantastic example. - Reviews
