  3. USED Collings MF Honey Amber Gloss Top Ivoroid Binding w/ Ebony Pickguard

I first met Bill Collings in the 1980's while at the Austin Guitar Show. He was a great guy with an obvious love of vintage instruments. He built some of the finest instruments I've ever seen. I was in the vintage business at that time, and had played Loar F-5's and such. I could not believe how his mandolins held up against those. It changed my whole view on new versus old. We have a good one for you fine folks: a second hand Collings MF Mandolin. This instrument is gorgeous, with a glossy honey amber finish on the top, and satin finish on the back and sides. The upgraded Ivoroid body binding is a really nice touch that really goes well with the finish; much classier looking than the standard tortoise shell. The fingerboard is ebony and the bound pickguard is ebony. It's close to mint condition, showing only the slightest hints of being payed. The only thing notable about the condition is a dark spot on the back of the instrument near the base of the neck and scroll, where it has some discoloration caused by the stand it sat in. This of course is purely cosmetic and doesn't change the sound or stability of the instrument. The frets are perfect. The tone is amazing. With a fully carved Adirondack spruce top and maple back and sides, the MF is built with the same quality construction as Collings' fully-appointed models. This instrument produces the rich, woody tone that one would expect from a professional quality mandolin, at an affordable price. I love the amber finish; it gives it a very elegant look. This one is a keeper. You are going to love it. Comes with original TKL hard case.

Upgrade's on this model include: Gloss finish top, Ivoroid body binding, and bound ebony pickguard.

New retail price for this mandolin with its upgrades is now $5550 with a street discount price of $4995. Grab this one for way less.

  5. Gjika Amplification Shawn Lane Stereo Amp RARE!

Shawn Lane had the best combination of incredible speed and beautiful, melodic phrasing I've ever heard. I feel very lucky to have known and taken lessons from him. Some of my fondest memories in the late 80's and early 90's were spent in his studio, which was just a back bedroom in his Grandmother's house. He tracked some magic in that small room! When I first met him he was playing a Holmes Mississippi Bluesmaster amp, Westbury tube overdrive, and a couple of Boss pedals. His cabinet was mic'd up in the closet and pedals were on the floor in front of his mixer. I distinctly remember going over to Shawn's house right after he'd gotten his Gjika preamp and power amp. His Holmes rig sounded fantastic, but nowhere near as good as the Gjika. I'd never heard an amp like Gjika and have heard countless amps since then but to this day have not heard another like it.

If you are looking at this, I will assume you know exactly what it is and how amazing this amp is. If not, just listen to Shawn's guitar tone on "Grey Pianos Flying" from the Powers Of Ten album or his cover of Jimi Hendrix's "Peace In Mississippi" which he recorded in the early 90's but released later on The Tri-Tone Fascination. You'll get a good sense of what this amp can do.

This amp is what Bob Gjika felt was the pinnacle of single ended amp design. 40 watts stereo with 8 power tubes per side running single ended. It's identical to the amp that Shawn Lane used to record the Powers Of Ten album, and subsequently toured with. It has two tone controls giving the amp more tonal options. Built at the same time as Shawn's amp, it has been brought to us by a gentleman who was partners with Bob Gjika during the mid-80's. It has been checked out by a local amp tech, and is in perfect working order.

This is an amazing piece of gear. Built like a tank. A guitar amplifier that will be revered for years to come alongside Trainwreck and Dumble.

The preamp and power amp tubes will ship in separate boxes. This power amp is quite heavy and will ship without the power tubes to ensure they are not damaged in transit. Everything will be packed meticulously. Please contact us directly so that we can give you an accurate shipping quote.

  6. Vintage 1965 Fender Deluxe Amp

Ask a bunch of pro guitarists, "What's the world's best guitar amp?" You'll get a lot of answers to that question, but I guarantee you on most people's list there will a Fender Deluxe. They are such great amps. Here we have a 1965 Fender Deluxe. It is non-reverb Blackface model and in excellent condition. Many prefer this non-reverb version as it has more headroom (just ask Mike Campbell). The speaker has been changed to a Celestion Vintage 30. It has just been completely gone through and is in tip top condition. Here's what was done: Internals completely cleaned. Wires cleaned. New F&T capacitors and Vishay power resistors of the correct value installed in filter circuit. Excess wire shortened and neatened. Chassis grounds done properly. Remaining electrolytic caps (bias and cathode bypass caps) replaced with new F&T and Vishay capacitors. The output transformer has been replaced. It is an original Fender Schumacker transformer and is dated 1968. It is the same transformer as would have come in the amp in 1965, with the only difference being the "1" and "8" on the end-cap of the label. Old solder removed, cleaned, and redone properly. Plate resistor replaced with 1/2W 220K carbon composite resistor. Replaced LFP caps with 1KV ceramics that won't fail. New three-pronged grounded power cable installed. AC wiring redone per safetly code. Old "death cap" removed from Ground Polarity circuit. So this amp is good to go. This is an awesome amp, perfect for small gigs or recording.

  9. Paul Reed Smith DW CE 24 “Floyd” Limited Edition - Waring Burst

"I've always thought CE's were really great guitars, and I couldn't be happier with this signature model. It can get pretty much any sound you want it to, it's super comfortable to play, and it's just cool to see a CE with a maple board and a Floyd. I hope everyone loves it as much as I do." - Dustie Waring / Between the Buried and Me

The progressive metal band Between the Buried and Me has a sound that is both heavy and melodic, lush and menacing. It is this demand for versatility without sacrifice that led to the development of guitarist Dustie Waring’slatest PRS signature model: the DW CE 24 “Floyd.” This model starts with the PRS CE bolt-on platform and includes a satin-finished maple neck, maple fretboard, a slightly modified Pattern Thin neck carve (Waring’s carve is slightly thinner front to back), and Floyd Rose tremolo system.

The pickups and electronics are also unique to Waring’s signature axe. The pickups are Waring’s signature Mojotone “DW Tomahawk” pickups. Made with a blend of Ceramic and Alnico magnets and a special winding technique, DW Tomahawks have plenty of output and big bottom end while remaining articulate and clear - a unique quality for high gain pickups. Paired with a volume and tone control and 5-way blade pickup selector that have been shi ed slightly to allow plenty of room to work the tremolo, the DW CE 24 “Floyd” is comfortable, fun, and inspiring to play.

  10. USED 2014 Gibson ES-Les Paul Light Burst

I was a vintage guitar snob for years. The level of my arrogance was stupefying. I would say things like, "I won't play any guitar made after 1961." I have calmed down considerably in my old age. I like a lot of new stuff now, as well as guitars like this semi-hollow Les Paul which is actually a really, really good idea. Such a good idea that I'm surprised it took Gibson so long to come out with it. We have a 2014 Gibson ES-Les Paul that is a fantastic guitar. The first thing you notice is the top, which is nicely figured flame maple. It is really striking. The top is a Light Burst finish. It's lightweight but still has the great "Les Paul" tone. It is very clean, showing the barest hint of wear. The frets are perfect, it plays and sounds great. Comes with Gibson hard case.

  11. Vintage 1959 Gibson ES-225T Sunburst

I was listening to Buddy Holly do "Peggy Sue" the other day. His guitar sound is so cool. They had a microphone right on the strings just picking up the right hand. Nikki Sullivan, the other guitar player in the group, had the job of switching pickups for the solo. Buddy was playing all downstrokes, so switching pickups was a problem. Forgive me while I digress into another useless bit of rock and roll trivia. Now to the subject at hand, we have a 1959 Gibson ES-225T, very similar to the one Nikki Sullivan played. See how I worked that in? This is a single pickup model. It is in excellent condition. Super clean and nice. The tuners are repro, Kluson Style, the pickup is a Lindy Fralin P-90 style, the pots are changed. The bridge is the correct style, and is stamped "Patent Pending. It may be a repro, or it may have been rechromed...hard to tell. Comes with a new pickguard inside the case. The frets are in great shape, it plays fantastic and sounds so good. As I said, it is very clean and nice. Comes with a very nice, non original case.

Adding further aesthetic appeal, the neck features mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays. This really is an all around great guitar, perfect for the stage or studio.
