  "OM" stands for "Orchestra Model," but 80 years after this body shape was first designed it has become the most popular 14-fret model with fingerstyle guitar soloists who choose to play on steel strings. Featuring a Thermo-Cured Adirondack Spruce top. The Orchestra name was given to this model in 1929 in an attempt to entice guitarists in dance orchestras to pick one up and take it to a gig.   Here's a 1988 Ovation Elite 1768 cutaway acoustic-electric in black finish. USA made in 1988. If you're looking for that signature Ovation tone with great projection and a smooth, super comfortable neck, this one's got it. The deep Lyrachord bowl-back design gives it a rich, balanced sound, and the cutaway makes it easy to reach the higher frets.
